Have you heard the story of the very wealthy king who went for a trip to a far-off part of his territory? Now when he returned, he complained that his feet were very sore and aching. This was the first time he had taken such a long trip so he hurt all over since the road was so bumpy, rough and rocky.
To fix the problem, the great king ordered his people cover every road in the entire empire with leather! It would take thousands of cow's skin and would cost a huge amount of money. Certainly, this would solve the problem, he thought.
Then one of his wise servants spoke to the king, "Why spend such an enormous amount of money, sacrifice all those cows and go all that effort? Instead, why not just cut a small piece of leather and shape it to cover your feet?"
The king loved the idea and soon had a wonderful leather shoe made.
This story of the leather king is a reminder of a valuable lesson of life.
If you want to change your world, start by changing yourself first. There's a Bible proverb that points this out. It says, "Stop your foolish ways, and you will live; take the road of understanding." (Proverbs 9:6Forsake the foolish, and live; and go in the way of understanding.
See All... NCV) Now that road is one of a spiritual perspective.
No doubt, life can be a pretty rough road at times, but if you change your perspective, you'll have a profitable spiritual journey.
