You've heard the old saying; "It's always darkest before the dawn." It expresses the idea that life can get pretty difficult before it improves.
But does it just get better by itself? Just sitting around, hoping for the dawn usually doesn't accomplish much. If you want it to be less dark, you've got to let some light in. If you don't want it to be left in the darkness of your difficulties, don't you have to do something about it? Wouldn't it be better to open the shades or flip on a light switch instead?
Do you face trials? With the help of God, take them on! Tackle the challenges! It's always darkest when their isn't much light in your life. So do something to bring the light into your life. Don't play the game of just waiting for the dawn.
Jesus' parable of the lost coin is a wonderful example of this concept. "What woman, having ten silver coins, if she loses one coin, does not light a lamp, sweep the house, and search carefully until she finds it?" (Luke 15:8Either what woman having ten pieces of silver, if she lose one piece, doth not light a candle, and sweep the house, and seek diligently till she find it?

The coin wasn't going to find itself so she actively sought a solution to her problem. She started by turning on the light. You can make the choice to bring light into your life.
This may seem difficult and perhaps to some—impossible. But the fact is that quite often, if you do nothing, things get worse.
So commit yourself to deal with your distress. Seek out the light and make every effort to put those difficulties behind you and you'll find sunup is not far behind. With God's help your life will lighten up. It may be darkest before the dawn—but remember—you can always turn on the light.
