Thursday, February 6, 2014 (All day)

Four key Biblical passages tell a different story than what many believe as a rapture. There is no proof for a pre-tribulation rapture.

[Gary Petty] We have a Beyond Today program coming up very shortly where we talk about is the rapture real. Now in this program we take four important biblical passages and explain what the Bible actually teaches about the return of Jesus Christ and the resurrection.

We first start with 1 Thessalonians. You see, most people take 1 Thessalonians and separate it from other biblical passages and say that this proves a pre-tribulation rapture. Well, what we do in the program is we take 1 Thessalonians, we take what Jesus taught in Matthew 24 in the Olivet Prophecy, we take 1 Corinthians 15 where Paul writes what is often called the resurrection chapter, and the Apostle John in Revelation where he describes the return of Jesus Christ and we look at all the similarities in these four events.

When we do we find out that 1 Thessalonians, Matthew 24, 1 Corinthians 15 and Revelation - they're all describing the same events. And these events do not describe a pre-tribulation rapture, but they describe a resurrection that happens at the return of Jesus Christ after the tribulation, and at that time He also resurrects all those who have died in Christ to rise and meet Him in the clouds. So be sure and not miss the upcoming Beyond Today program.

That's today's BT Daily . Join us next time.

It might be well to note that Elijah was not "raptured away" in the sense of being taken up into heaven to God. He was taken up in the air and taken away to another place on earth. I think this was done so that Elisha could be more readily accepted as the prophet succeeding him (2 Kings:2:11-12). We see in 2 Kings:2:17-18 that 50 men searched for Elíjah for three days, but they did not find him. Later on in time, Elijah is mentioned in 2 Chronicles:21:12-15, as sending a letter to Jehoram, King of Judah.

I tend to believe that the same type of incidence will occur with the the two witnesses of Revelation 11. After the dead bodies of the witnesses lay in the streets for three and a half days, "a breath of life from God entered them and they stood on their feet." (Rev:11:11) "Then they heard a loud voice from heaven saying to them, 'Come up here.' And they went up to heaven in a cloud, while their enemies looked on" (verse 12).

I think the two witnesses were resurrected to human life and were taken up in the clouds by the Spirit of God, just like Elijah. The last trumpet call came after this happening (Rev:11:15) and not at the same time as they were traveling in the clouds.

I think a lot of people tend to believe that if it happens, then it is best to be prepared. This way we are good to go, and don't have to go through the tribulation that is to come.
