One of the Biblical festivals teaches two critically important Bible truths.

Transcript

[Darris McNeely] We focused on an important issue of the Good News Magazine on the subject of Jesus Christ in the Biblical festivals. I want to focus for a minute on the festival called the Feast of Trumpets – a very critical, very important Feast that comes in the fall of every year that focuses on two events, the return of Jesus Christ and the resurrection of the dead in Christ. Very key doctrine of the Bible. It is mentioned in 1 Thessalonians 4:16, where this is described – this event, at least, on the resurrection. It says, "For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first." 1 Thessalonians 4:16.

Feast of Trumpets is a very, very important, joyous occasion. The trumpet that it's referring to – a trumpet a lot like this, which is a copy of an ancient shofar, which is a ram's horn that was blown for many different reasons within the Old Testament and  the nation of Israel. It was blown as a signal to war, or as an assembly of the people for special occasions, and especially upon the festivals. And in the New Testament, the terminology of trumpets are blown as we read in Thessalonians and also in the book of Revelation to herald and advance, especially on that time of the return of Jesus Christ. There's another key scripture in Revelation 11:15 that talks about this as well. Revelation 11:15 says, "Then the seventh angel blew his trumpet, and there were loud voices in heaven saying, 'The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of'His Christ, and He shall reign forever and ever.'"

The Feast of Trumpets pictures the time when Jesus Christ steps into our world and imposes His kingdom – the Kingdom of God, also called the Kingdom of Heaven – upon all the other kingdoms of this world at a time, a very critical point in human experience and human history. It is an awesome event that takes place at that time.

You need to understand more about the Feast of Trumpets. You can do so in our literature and by watching Beyond Today. But it is a time of rejoicing. It is a critical moment that yet lies ahead in our world and in human experience. And when it happens, there'll be no misunderstanding as to what is taking place and the events that it will foreshadow. That's the Feast of Trumpets.
