How's your eyesight? Are you sure your spiritual vision is clear?

Transcript

[Steve Myers] Every five seconds, someone in the world goes blind. That statistic I ran across the other day also cited the fact that in America alone there are 10 million people that are blind and visually impaired. How's your eye sight? It's amazing to realize after I started looking into it a little bit, that most of those people that went blind, in fact 3/4 of all the world's blindness could've been prevented, could've been treated, and it could have been stopped from every happening to begin with. 3/4! Now that was an amazing statistic.

Now think about that spiritually for just a moment. Are there areas in our life that we're not seeing clearly when it comes to living God's way?

The Bible says we better be careful, that we better take stock. There's an interesting Proverb in Proverbs. It gives us lots of different advice, and in Proverbs 29:18 it says, "Where there is no vision, the people perish." It can also be translated, "Where there is no revelation, no prophetic vision, the people cast off restraint." It certainly points to the fact that it's looking at spiritual blindness, that we're not seeing things clearly when it comes to God's way. And if we're not seeing things clearly, we can lose our way spiritually.

So when's the last time you had an eye exam?

Especially when you think about it in the spiritual sense. If we're striving to put on Christ, we need to look at ourselves and take that spiritual eye examination. It's time now to look at ourselves. It's time now to focus on the Kingdom of God and what God is doing. Don't close your eyes to the truth. Look to the word of God. It is truth and if we do that, we can then dedicate our life to living His way, and our vision then spiritually speaking can be so much clearer as we keep our eyes focused on God.

That's BT Daily. We'll see you next time.
