A new teaching document approved by the Roman Catholic Church, The Gift of Scripture, says, "We should not expect to find in Scripture full scientific accuracy or complete historical precision."

The church has traveled a long way from the times when the Copernican view of the universe was judged heresy. Some of the items in this work plow the same old ground of the past. For instance the book of Revelation is dismissed it seems because of its references to a beast and false prophet. Nothing new here.

Anti-Semitism seems to be blamed on the scripture in Matthew 27:25, "His blood be on us and on our children", a passage used to justify centuries of anti-Semitism. This scripture is called "dramatic exaggeration".
You can read about the project here.

A counter view of scripture can be found in our publication, Is the Bible True?
