Every autumn the leaves begin to change and color the earth with great warmth. Have you ever thought about the appeal of the fall colors and the future return and reign of Jesus Christ that is pictured in the Feast of Tabernacles? We can draw a lesson about the millennial reign of Jesus Christ from the autumn colors of red, yellow and orange in a way you might not have considered before.

In color theory, each of the colors we see in autumn represents something different: red represents warfare, orange represents change and yellow represents happiness. When Jesus Christ returns to this earth, he will come with great wrath (Revelation 19:15). With His wrath will be justice on the earth and the fantastic change of world peace! "And they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks; nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war anymore" (Micah 4:3). All people alive will "hear a word behind [them] saying, 'This is the way, walk in it'” (Isaiah 30:21). There will be great joy throughout the earth as mankind lives by God’s commandments of life and love in the Kingdom of God!

This year for the Feast of Tabernacles, I’ll be going to Gatlinburg, Tennessee, where the colorful symbolism of red, orange and yellow will surround me everywhere I go. If you’re visiting a site where autumn is in full swing and the leaves are colorful, take time to appreciate the beautiful surroundings that reflect the hope we have in our hearts for the return of Jesus Christ and His Kingdom to come!
