One of my favorite scriptures happens to be one that describes a Godly leader. It is found among the "last words of David" in 2 Samuel 23. Let me quote it:

"The Spirit of the Lord spoke by me and His word was on my tongue. The God of Israel said, the Rock of Israel spoke to me; He who rules over men must be just. Ruling in the fear of God.

And he shall be like the light of the morning when the sun rises, a morning without clouds, like the tender grass springing out of the earth by clear shining after rain."

I have always gone to this verse to remind myself of how to treat people when I teach and lead. Fairness and equity coupled with understanding that God watches my every decision when it comes to my stewardship. Godly leadership produces a refreshing feeling like that of the air when cleared by water and light. There is nothing quite like it.

This morning on the Sea of Galilee I captured the sun rise over the Golan Heights. It may not be the clearest of mornings but the lesson is still there. True Godly leadership builds respect and generates energy, zeal and enthusiasm. Where the spirit of God is working in leaders there is trust, honor and integrity. People feel honored.

Where Godly leadership is working there are no closed doors, walls or barriers. Everyone shares in the mission and their focus is clear and sharp...like the light of a clear morning after rain.
