In different ways we can all express how cats are independent and not as affectionate as some other animals. Cats in the wild are hunters, meat eaters and therefore killers. But people can grow terribly attached to a cat, and they are lovely creatures. Perhaps it is their independent nature that we appreciate.

After the days of creation, God saw that what He had made was "very good" (Genesis 1:31). We do not know if anything changed in the meantime because the cat family was part of that "very good" creation. What God does promise is that cats will change. Lions that are of the cat family will eat straw like an ox (Isaiah 11:7). God loves all of His creation—He is a cat lover.
