Every year British men waste about 6 million hours on the road (not to mention the petrol burned!) because of a stubborn refusal to ask for directions. This insurance company study was reported in The Week, March 24, 2006. It likely applies in many other countries, and in many other situations, as well.

It may hurt the male ego, but asking for directions is a key to success in this life and beyond. Wise King Solomon wrote: "Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths" (Proverbs 3:5-6).

We can also find direction in the words of Jesus, "Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find" (Matthew 7:7), and James, "You do not have because you do not ask" (James 4:2).
