It is astonishing how often people want to avoid putting time and energy into thinking and pondering the important things of life. Believing everything or doubting everything removes the need to weigh things in the balance and make decisions that may be painful.

Jesus noted that many choose the broad path even though it leads to destruction, and few choose the narrow path that leads to life (Matthew 7:13-14). It seems that people are able to overlook the final destiny of the easy path or we would think nobody would choose that way. But our mind can rationalize in a marvelous way, and we can convince ourselves that our decisions are wise. Thinking is good, and with practice a person can get really good at it. Take the narrow path.
