“Disgusting though Lycans may be, they, at least, are evolved. It was only these later generations that learned to channel their rage.” – Andreas Tanis, character, Underworld series (Underworld.Wikia.com)
“They are born of beasts! And the savagery of this despicable fact cannot be bred away!“ – Viktor, character, Underworld series (Underworld.Wikia.com)
Werewolves, Lycanthropes and Vampires
2014 brings yet another movie in the Underworld series that focuses on vampires, werewolves and lycanthropes (people who turn into wolves and exhibit superior wolf-like qualities).
Also according to the movie promoting site, Underworld.Wikia.com: “Lycans are a second breed of Werewolves created in the 11th century, descended from William Corvinus's Werewolf bloodline. Once normal humans who were infected by the first born Lycan or another of his victims, they are unlike the first breed in that they retain their human intelligence and personalities while transformed, as well as being capable to take human form.”
Descriptions like these sound impressive, even believable, but here’s the trouble; Lycanthropes and Werewolves, don’t exist! Just like Vampires, they’re all fake! A product of pseudo-history, pagan legends, and the entertainment industry.
However, there is somebody who wants you to think they’re real. He’s called the Devil (slanderer or accuser) and Satan (adversary or enemy). And he is very real —a holy archangel created by God, who rebelled against all that is good and gave himself forever to evil. Now, he’s called a “fallen angel,” a demon, if you will.
If you want stories about the ultimate battle between good and evil – check out the Bible. Anything else is just a sad facsimile or outright lies.
Man is a wolf to man – Homo homini lupus
The Latin word for wolf is lupus and in Greek is likos which is the basis for the imaginary “Lycans.” The Devil wants humans to act like and believe in these fake wolf-like creatures. The Latin proverb: homo homini lupus describes the predatory, evil and destructive nature of mankind—as incited by Satan. Similar entertainments to the movie series or the video games associated with it engage you vicariously in that evil predatory nature—but with a tantalizing supernatural twist designed to make it seem like a harmless preoccupation…after all, “it’s just entertainment, right?”
The fact is, though, the real Satan is not harmless! He wants to trick mankind into embracing his evil, hate-filled, destructive ways—and it’s not a very complicated plot. He wants impressionable young minds and foolish older minds to mimic, play dress-up, and absorb these malevolent characters and plotlines—like the pagan mythologies of old or the newer electronic entertainment versions.
Destroyer is his name—Destruction is his game
The Devil’s endgame is the same now as in the past. He wants humans to reject God and worship him instead. Then he wants man to be a wolf to man—to kill and destroy each other. It’s working too. Just read world history and today’s news. Or you could do both at the same time by reading Bible prophecy. Jesus Christ and God the Father read Satan’s heart and warned us long ago.
And here’s an overlooked but ominous truth. The Devil has another name: Destroyer. In the book of Revelation (Revelation 9:11 Revelation 9:11And they had a king over them, which is the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in the Hebrew tongue is Abaddon, but in the Greek tongue has his name Apollyon.
American King James Version×) he is called in Greek, Apollyon —Destroyer, and in Hebrew he is called Abaddon —Destruction. Literally, Destroyer is his name and Destruction is his game!
The dark side of pantheons of pagan gods, including werewolves, lycanthropes and vampires, of horror entertainments— and celebrations like Halloween—is that they lead us away from the true God who made us.
God has a better way. “For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light …finding out what is acceptable to the Lord”(Ephesians 5:8 Ephesians 5:8For you were sometimes darkness, but now are you light in the Lord: walk as children of light:
American King James Version×).
Take on the ultimate quest of defending that light by following God’s way of life. Your example may be all it takes to help someone else escape from the darkness that surrounds this world.
