You have value. You have value not because of your potential or the things that you do—but you have worth because you exist and were created by God.

A struggle for all of us is to see our significance as God does. We may think it’s selfish to consider ourselves beautiful, unique and important—but it’s not. We may believe it’s prideful to acknowledge the good things we do—but it’s not.

Seeing our value means we know who created us and who has given us all that we are. We can appreciate the uniqueness He created in us—by hand—and use our talents and qualities we possess to give to others. It means that we accept our successes, as well as our failures, and we can acknowledge and change when we are wrong.

Romans 5:8 says, “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” He saw your value and was willing to give His life for you. But do you see yours?

Cherish your value and hold on to it—because you belong to a loving God.

This reminded me of an article I read in the United News http://www.ucg.org/christian-living/eyes-beholder/ It's a great read about how God knows our heart's and potential. I think it's important to recognize that Christ died for us while we were despicable sinners, worthy of death. His great love and mercy is what gives us the opportunity to repent and change and become His children. Needless to say, God values sinners or He would not have let His Son die for all of mankind.

"Hebrews 1:9...God, addressing Jesus Christ, says, 'You have loved righteousness and hated lawlessness [sin]...' 'They clearly hate sin, but that does not mean They hate those who are caught up in sin. As John 3:16-17 tells us, God sent His only Son...because He loves all people and wants to offer us a way to avoid death-the ultimate consequence of our sins (Romans 6:23). 'God demonstrates this love toward us in spite of our sins. 'For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly...But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us' (Romans 5:6,8). 'Jesus' death allows us to be reconciled to God, making possible a relationship with Him. '...justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him. For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life...through whom we have now received the reconciliation' [v. 9-11]. Through Jesus Christ giving His life to pay the penalty for our sins for us, God offers us a priceless gift: eternal life, an escape from the consequences of sin... 'Psalm 103 explains God's attitude of love toward the human race: 'Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits: who forgives all your iniquities,...who redeems your life from destruction; who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies...The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in mercy. He will not...keep his anger forever. He has not dealt with us according to our sins' [v. 2-4,8-10]. ''As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions [sins] from us. As a father pities his children, so the LORD pities those who fear Him. For...He remembers that we are dust...The mercy of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear Him, and His righteousness to children's children, to such as keep His covenant, and to those who remember His commandments to do them' [v. 12-14,17-18]. 'Earlier we read from Romans 6:23 that the wages of sin is death. But, for those who are willing to repent, change their ways and accept Jesus Christ's sacrifice, the rest of the verse applies: '...The gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord' ("Does God Hate Sinners?"): http://www.ucg.org/christian-living/does-god-hate-sinners/

there are terrible people in the world, evil people. are they of value just for existing? must god love someone just for being born?

Hello again mel7905 (interesting moniker!) Yes there are evil people in this world. But I wonder if there are any Born that way. The little child is mostly an empty jar ready to be filled. Unfortunately, many are corrupted before they even get a chance to understand what is what. I am therefore happy to be able to tell you that God has a plan to reach back, before those people became evil, and to allow even them to choose the correct and Godly way. Ask us about it. It will surprise you.
