The Bible prophesies an end-time figure who opposes Christ—the Antichrist—but the meaning of the term antichrists encompasses more than just the end time. This term literally means “against Christ” and is variously defined as “adversary of Christ” or “opponent of Christ” and as a title or proper name for a specific individual who opposes and claims to be Christ.

The Bible does not reveal specifically who the Antichrist is, speaking instead of his corrupt teachings.

The Greek-English Lexicon of the New Testament Based on Semantic Domains by Louw and Nida offers a more comprehensive definition:

“The term . . . appears to have become increasingly equivalent to a proper name as the personification of all that was opposed to and contrary to the role and ministry of Christ.”

According to the apostle John’s writing, there is a spirit of antichrist, which is a spirit of opposition to the identity of Christ. Specifically, he was writing to warn of the dualistic heresy that denied that Christ lived as a physical human being (1 John 4:3 1 John 4:3And every spirit that confesses not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof you have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.
American King James Version×
; 2 John 1:7 2 John 1:7For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.
American King James Version×
).

In the first century, most people of Jewish background anticipated a Messiah who would come to the earth as a conquering king to establish the Kingdom of God. But they failed to understand that He would first come as a man who would become the sacrifice for the sins of mankind, and they refused to accept Jesus as the Messiah. (The word Messiah is the Hebrew counterpart to the Greek word Christ .) Their doctrine was an example of a spirit of antichrist.

Today, many members of mainstream Christianity make the opposite mistake from the one that the Jews made by accepting that Christ became the perfect sacrifice for sin but denying His coming to the earth as a conquering king. So ironically, even that traditional Christian doctrine can be classified as “antichrist.”

End-time prophecies show that religious people—including professing Christians deceived into accepting a counterfeit Christianity—will oppose many of the teachings of Christ. In that real sense, even today, many professing Christians actually have been deceived by a spirit of antichrist.

The Bible does not reveal specifically who the Antichrist is, speaking instead of his corrupt teachings. In 2 Thessalonians 2, Paul prophesied of a “man of sin,” a liar and deceiver whose natural abilities Satan enhances by supernatural power in order to confuse people in the end time. In addition, Christ inspired John to write of a “false prophet” to come at the end time (Revelation 13; Revelation 16:13; Revelation 19:20 Revelation 19:20And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that worked miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.
American King James Version×
).

Finally, note how the prophecy describes a great religious leader of the end time: “He had two horns like a lamb and spoke like a dragon” (Revelation 13:11 Revelation 13:11And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spoke as a dragon.
American King James Version×
). That is to say, he takes on the image of (or imitates) Jesus Christ (the Lamb of God), but is empowered by Satan. Historically, a counterfeit version of Christianity fulfills the types we read of in the prophecies of Revelation.

But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, evenwhen we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ— by grace you have been saved cast all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you!! May God Bless you.

Glenn please understand that you are being DECIEVED. Take back your life, or rather receive the gift that the Lord already have for you!!!! The fact that you desire Christ is great! That’s the 1st step. That’s why the devil iswworking on you because he knows the Lord is calling you! God knows your heart & knows u want a relationship with him. He knows you & he’s calling you! Don’t let that bible scripture confuse u, the mark of the beast isn’t on anyone yet. Satan knows you’re not knowledgeable of the bible so he’s gonna manipulate u to interpret the scripture wrong. This happened to me last summer & I ended up in a psychward due to my fear! God did not give us the spirit of fear, we have to put on Gods armor & fight! Satan is gonna remind u of his past but you remind him of his future. See u have a chance & he doesn’t. He’s going to hell for FACT whereas the Lord is calling u to come to him. You’re one step ahead of Satan because you’re reaching out & asking for help. Im glad I ran into this post. Glory to God cause this moved my spirit. I have weird dreams as well. But you are NOT cursed or doomed. You are in a spiritual battle as us ALL. Likewise we have ALL sinned except Christ himself. The fact that you know your sins and ready to admit them shows u are well on ur way. But its not us that can redeem u but Christ. He hears you! Speak aloud to him and tell him the same thing u wrote hear. Ask for his forgiveness & to help u change ur ways & its done! You will be forgiven & his forever! Its gonna be hard but if you depend on him & glorify him even in the tough times u will have the Victory cause he said so! In him we are more than conquerors. PLEASE EMAIL ME at **Email removed to comply with comment policy** I would love to be your support through this tough time cause I understand what its like to be absolutely afraid & in need of a good word & support. Idk if u have this but I would love to share with u my testimony as u move fwd. THIS will be your testimony when u get through it because u will. OUR God is unfailing. The ONE & ONLY thing he cannnot do is fail. Once again my email is **Email removed to comply with comment policy** PLEASE write me.

Time out! Alright. First, this sounds to me like a chemistry imbalance in your brain and body. Glenn, have you been having sleepless nights? When anyone goes without sleep for long periods of time they start to imagine crazy things; and have nightmares when they do finally sleep. Once you get back to sleeping again you will be able to think more clearly and stop the panic attacks. Now as for your spiritual growth. Make or buy a journal, it’s time to write down your feelings. Read the Book of Psalms. There you will learn how King David wrote down his fears and concerns to the LORD. King David is a good example of how to release inner feelings. However, remember that Jesus said to love your enemies and those that despitefully use you. So, if your feel hate, ask God the Father to help you with it. What you need to do is learn how to forgive yourself like we all do. We have all sinned. We all must repent. When you gain control of your thoughts and get the much needed rest you need; these crazy visions will stop coming. You may need some medical assistance to help you sleep at night if this is what is happening to you at this time. God loves each and everyone of us, however, He calls us to obey Him. We must all come to Him with a willing heart of obedience. Anything that is worth fighting for; does not come easy in this life. Otherwise it wouldn’t be worth it in the end if it was easy. Like for instance: You are a teen wanted a new car, your parents just give it to you. Will you appreciate that new car? Or would you have an additude of; I wreck it, my parents will buy me a new one. Now, if you had to work for that same car; wouldn’t you take better care of it because you had to foot the bill? So don’t panic. You will be ok as you look to God the Father for help through, prayer, journaling, seeking medical help (if you need it),and bible study. Here is a link to one of our booklets to start you off. You can order it on-line. http://www.ucg.org/booklet/transforming-your-life-process-conversion/

Glenn, I hope you are still able to receive this message, and are able to understand. In this battle against the spirit realm, you need every good tool that is capable of helping you regain the peace of mind that you seek. Surprisingly, some physical medicines designed to restore chemical balance to your brain (by limiting fight/flight chemicals induced by fear for example), can actually assist you in regaining a peaceful, sound mind. Since it is also a spiritual issue, which you described as a “curse” related to habitual sin in its later stages, there is no better substitute for the peace and forgiveness you seek than to turn whole-heartedly to the LORD GOD. As others have suggested, the Psalms are one of the most healing books in the Bible that you can read and fervently pray along with. Perhaps, you can relate to Psalm 107’s people whose “soul melts because of trouble” and who “are at their wits’ end. Then they cry out to the LORD in their trouble, and He brings them out of their distresses. He calms the storm… Then they are glad because they are quiet; so He guides them to their desired haven” (107:26-30, NKJV). “This poor man cried out, and the LORD heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles” (Psalms 34:6 Psalms 34:6This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles.
    American King James Version×
). More than anything right now, you need to: “Trust in the LORD… and feed on His faithfulness” (Psalms 37:3 Psalms 37:3Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shall you dwell in the land, and truly you shall be fed.
    American King James Version×
, NKJV). There is no evil spirit in the entire universe that is greater than GOD (John 10:29 John 10:29My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand.
    American King James Version×
, Luke 10:18 Luke 10:18And he said to them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.
    American King James Version×
), and GOD’s voice is the only spirit you should listen to (John 10:27-29 John 10:27-29 27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: 28 And I give to them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. 29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand.
    American King James Version×
, 3-5; see also Romans 8:38-39 Romans 8:38-39 38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, 39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
    American King James Version×
). The LORD GOD does not take any pleasure in the death of the sinful, but would much rather that they turn to Him and live (Ezekiel 18:23 Ezekiel 18:23Have I any pleasure at all that the wicked should die? said the Lord GOD: and not that he should return from his ways, and live?
    American King James Version×
, 31-32). Yes, “…seek the LORD your God, and you will find Him if you seek Him with all your heart and with all your soul. When you are in distress, and all these things come upon you in the latter days, when you turn to the LORD your God and obey His voice (for the LORD your God is a merciful God)…” (Deuteronomy 4:29-31 Deuteronomy 4:29-31 29 But if from there you shall seek the LORD your God, you shall find him, if you seek him with all your heart and with all your soul. 30 When you are in tribulation, and all these things are come on you, even in the latter days, if you turn to the LORD your God, and shall be obedient to his voice; 31 (For the LORD your God is a merciful God;) he will not forsake you, neither destroy you, nor forget the covenant of your fathers which he swore to them.
    American King James Version×
a). Do not lose heart, but believe in the goodness of the LORD (Psalms 27:13-14 Psalms 27:13-14 13 I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living. 14 Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.
    American King James Version×
). “You, O LORD, are a shield for me… I cried to the LORD with my voice, and He heard me from His holy hill… I lay down and slept; I awoke for the LORD sustained me” (Psalms 3:3-5 Psalms 3:3-5 3 But you, O LORD, are a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of my head. 4 I cried to the LORD with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy hill. Selah. 5 I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the LORD sustained me.
    American King James Version×
). “I will both lie down in peace, and sleep; for You alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety” (Psalms 4:8 Psalms 4:8I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for you, LORD, only make me dwell in safety.
    American King James Version×
    ).

Glenn, You need to understand that the devil is losing his battle with God for you and he knows it. He is trying to hold onto everyone he can because he knows his time is soon coming to an end. I received Jesus, as my savior, just a few weeks ago and the devil has tormented me ever since. When he harasses me I just say, devil I rebuke you in the name of Jesus and the Lord makes him leave me alone. You are a child of God and you must ask God to forgive your sins and live according to the ten commandments. It is not easy but if you hold fast, your reward will be great. I will pray for you and have the faith that you will be fine. The devil is tricky,he knows our deepest fears and plays on them but remember he is fast coming to an end. So hold onto God because he is the ultimate answer!! Praise the Lord!!!
  • Jorge123
Someone please help me. I really need help. I am very worried about my salvation. I fear that I am doomed. I need help. God, please help me!
  • Malachi 3_16-18
    Dear Jorge123, Please take heart. If you are very concerned about your salvation, that is a good starting point. I don’t know your circumstances, but all of us are doomed to eternal death (not ever-burning hell fire, though) unless we believe in Jesus Christ, accept His sacrifice for our sins, and truly repent and follow up on that repentance and faith by being baptized (Romans 3:23 Romans 3:23For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
    American King James Version×
; 6:23; Acts 2:36-39 Acts 2:36-39 36 Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God has made the same Jesus, whom you have crucified, both Lord and Christ. 37 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said to Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brothers, what shall we do? 38 Then Peter said to them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. 39 For the promise is to you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the LORD our God shall call.
    American King James Version×
). If you feel, as some do at times, that you have committed the “unpardonable sin”, then you probably haven’t committed it, if you are sincerely very concerned about it, and want to make things right with God. Our loving Father is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9 2 Peter 3:9The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is long-suffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
    American King James Version×
), and He is full of mercy and compassion (Psalms 103:8-14 Psalms 103:8-14 8 The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy. 9 He will not always chide: neither will he keep his anger for ever. 10 He has not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities. 11 For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him. 12 As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us. 13 Like as a father pities his children, so the LORD pities them that fear him. 14 For he knows our frame; he remembers that we are dust.
    American King James Version×
). Sometimes, even when God forgives us, it is hard to forgive ourselves for certain sins. Sin causes natural consequences, sometimes long-lasting, but when God has forgiven us, we must learn to forgive ourselves, or it will cripple us from any type of growth and from pleasing our Father (2 Peter 3:18 2 Peter 3:18But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.
    American King James Version×
; Proverbs 24:16 Proverbs 24:16For a just man falls seven times, and rises up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief.
    American King James Version×
