Yesterday I talked about the positive “buzz” you hear in a winning teams locker room. Today I want to talk about what goes on in the head of a winner. It is one thing to be with a winning team it is another to think like a winner.

A winner is willing to fight hard for the goal of the team, not just himself. He is able to put his ambitions and agenda aside and sacrifice for the good of the effort being made by the group. Call it mission or vision or guiding principles each team, group or entity has a purpose for being. The reason for opening the door and turning on the lights each day.

A winner fights for that team. He defends the team and lets no one attack or tear down morale. He shows up each day, each week and fulfills commitments even if it is only the commitment of “being there”. There is much to be said about presence. Presence speaks of commitment and priority.

A winner knows his team is all he has. It is a brotherhood, a fellowship and a place of identity.

A winner says, “I have no other place to go”. Free agency is not an option. He is committed to make it work where he is and he is willing to do what it takes to be a team player. Everyone on the teams knows he is “all in”.

Can you think like a winner?

A team full of people like this creates a force, a cause, a message to be reckoned with. It may not change the world but it might turn over a few tables.
