Underworld 5... Seriously? Vampires and Lycans Don't Exist!

“Disgusting though Lycans may be, they, at least, are evolved. It was only these later generations that learned to channel their rage.”  – Andreas Tanis, character, Underworld series (Underworld.Wikia.com)

“They are born of beasts! And the savagery of this despicable fact cannot be bred away!“  – Viktor, character, Underworld series (Underworld.Wikia.com)

Werewolves, Lycanthropes and Vampires

2014 brings yet another movie in the Underworld series that focuses on vampires, werewolves and lycanthropes (people who turn into wolves and exhibit superior wolf-like qualities).

Also according to the movie promoting site, Underworld.Wikia.com: “Lycans are a second breed of Werewolves created in the 11th century, descended from William Corvinus's Werewolf bloodline. Once normal humans who were infected by the first born Lycan or another of his victims, they are unlike the first breed in that they retain their human intelligence and personalities while transformed, as well as being capable to take human form.”

Descriptions like these sound impressive, even believable, but here’s the trouble; Lycanthropes and Werewolves, don’t exist! Just like Vampires, they’re all fake! A product of pseudo-history, pagan legends, and the entertainment industry.

However, there is somebody who wants you to think they’re real. He’s called the Devil (slanderer or accuser) and Satan (adversary or enemy). And he is very real —a holy archangel created by God, who rebelled against all that is good and gave himself forever to evil. Now, he’s called a “fallen angel,” a demon, if you will.

If you want stories about the ultimate battle between good and evil – check out the Bible. Anything else is just a sad facsimile or outright lies.

Man is a wolf to man – Homo homini lupus

The Latin word for wolf is lupus and in Greek is likos which is the basis for the imaginary “Lycans.” The Devil wants humans to act like and believe in these fake wolf-like creatures. The Latin proverb: homo homini lupus describes the predatory, evil and destructive nature of mankind—as incited by Satan. Similar entertainments to the movie series or the video games associated with it engage you vicariously in that evil predatory nature—but with a tantalizing supernatural twist designed to make it seem like a harmless preoccupation…after all, “it’s just entertainment, right?”

The fact is, though, the real Satan is not harmless! He wants to trick mankind into embracing his evil, hate-filled, destructive ways—and it’s not a very complicated plot. He wants impressionable young minds and foolish older minds to mimic, play dress-up, and absorb these malevolent characters and plotlines—like the pagan mythologies of old or the newer electronic entertainment versions.

Destroyer is his name—Destruction is his game

The Devil’s endgame is the same now as in the past. He wants humans to reject God and worship him instead. Then he wants man to be a wolf to man—to kill and destroy each other. It’s working too. Just read world history and today’s news. Or you could do both at the same time by reading Bible prophecy. Jesus Christ and God the Father read Satan’s heart and warned us long ago.

And here’s an overlooked but ominous truth. The Devil has another name: Destroyer. In the book of Revelation (Revelation:9:11) he is called in Greek, Apollyon —Destroyer, and in Hebrew he is called Abaddon —Destruction.  Literally, Destroyer is his name and Destruction is his game!

The dark side of pantheons of pagan gods, including werewolves, lycanthropes and vampires, of horror entertainments— and celebrations like Halloween—is that they lead us away from the true God who made us.

God has a better way. “For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light …finding out what is acceptable to the Lord”(Ephesians:5:8).

Take on the ultimate quest of defending that light by following God’s way of life. Your example may be all it takes to help someone else escape from the darkness that surrounds this world.

I'm not sure why we are wasting time on explaining the non reality of a fiction movie that we shouldn't be watching anyway?
I believe efforts and resources would be better used in pointing people away from watching any secular movies let alone this clearly dark and violent Garbage.

Php 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

An excellent article, and a timely one, addressing some of the evil concepts and practices of our time. Thank you for a sound, scriptural approach to this problem! As parents, we need to be armed with true Biblical knowledge to help our kids navigate this world in which they are growing up.

Nathan,

This article is written as a warning, a teaching tool. Those of us who are baptised and have a close relationship with God our Father have no intention of watching any of these wicked movies, however, the reality is some would and others are not sure because they do not see the danger.

As a parent of a 12 year old who has asked me several times whether werewolves, witches and vampires exist.......I always tell her the truth and am very grateful to my spiritual family who can support me with information through articles like this one and through sermons etc.

Whether we are aware of it or not, the children of the world are an influence on our children and there is great pressure to watch all the supernatural movies out there. The best way to address this topic is not to ignore it but to discuss it from a biblical point of view, finding out what pleases our loving Father and then passing this information on to our precious children.

We need to wake up to what is going on around us and be alert to all these dangers. We are warned to be alert and so we must take God's warning very seriously and realise it pertains to all aspects of our lives not just to news events of wars.

I mean no disrespect, but this article's premise is questionable. The leading quote is from a fictional character within a fantasy world, not an actual person who believes in Lycans. And **Link removed to comply with comment policy** is a fan produced website, not a factual resource. When a fan site says some things "is" ("A Lycan is a ..."), it means that it exists within the specific fictional universe of a particular storyline, not in real life. People know that the movie is not real, it is a dark fantasy, not a documentary. I think an article with general guidelines about how to choose movies that are edifying would be more advantageous to your readers than attacking every inappropriate movie that comes out.

@Heather

Not everyone knows the difference between fantasy and reality, and some people live in a make believe world where they play out their fantasies (how every weird and unreal they are).

But that is a great point about teaching Christians (young and old) what is acceptable for viewing and not.

Of course it's fake. By the way, I am not a person who attends any type of church. You would not like me.

But I come here to tell you that there are far worse things on this planet than fairy tales (werewolves and vampires). I have seen the true face of humanity and it isn't pretty.

Protecting your children from ALL of it is a bad idea. I hear life was easier back in the 1950's and all, but this is not the 1950's anymore. You have to let your kids know just what the world is like. Wait until they're older if you must, but do not keep them blinded to what is really out there.

And just remember, the things you believe in, they just might be fairy tales too. After all, religion was invented as a means to control people. Religions have brought about millions upon millions of murders throughout its past. Millions upon millions more will die in the name of religion in the future. Do some research into history. Religion rivals wars in terms of casualties. How can something so cruel be considered as "good"? It was all done in the name of God. It isn't right! May as well not reply to this because this was a one-time post by me.

Have a great year. Stay safe, it's an evil world.

Bristow.
