Our Final Transformation
If we have God's Spirit, what is our destiny when Jesus returns?
"For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly
wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our
lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body, according
to the working by which He is able even to subdue all things to Himself" (Philippians
3:20-21).
Be sure to read Paul's description in 1 Corinthians 15:50-54
of our final transformation from our "lowly" physical, mortal
bodies to glorious, immortal spirit bodies. The apostle Peter summarizes
the transformation that God accomplishes in His saints in these words: "His
divine power has given us everything needed for life and godliness, through
the knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. Thus
he has given us, through these things, his precious and very great promises,
so that through them you may escape from the corruption that is in the
world because of lust, and may become participants of the divine nature" (2
Peter 1:3-4, NRSV).
