Tuesday

Jesus Christ ate an evening Passover meal with His disciples and instituted the New Covenant symbols (Matthew 26:26-28). Jesus was then betrayed by Judas, arrested and during the night brought before the high priest.

Wednesday

Jesus died around 3 p.m. (Matthew 27:46-50). This was the preparation day for the annual, not weekly, Sabbath, which began at sunset (Mark 15:42; Luke 23:54; John 19:31). Jesus' body was placed in the tomb just before sunset (Matthew 27:57-60).

Thursday

Sunset Wednesday to sunset Thursday was the high-day Sabbath, the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread (John 19:31; Leviticus 23:4-7). It is described as the day after the "Day of Preparation" (Matthew 27:62). Thursday just before sunset marked the first full night and day Jesus was in the tomb.

Friday

The high-day Sabbath now past as of sunset Thursday, the women bought and prepared spices for anointing Jesus' body before resting on the weekly Sabbath day, which began at Friday sunset (Mark 16:1; Luke 23:56). Friday just before sunset marked the second full night and day Jesus was in the tomb.

Saturday

The women rested on the weekly Sabbath, according to the Fourth Commandment (Luke 23:56; Exodus 20:8-11). Jesus rose near sunset, exactly three days and three nights after His burial, fulfilling the sign of Jonah and authenticating the sign He gave of His messiahship.

Sunday

The women brought the spices early in the morning while it was still dark (Luke 24:1; John 20:1), finding that Jesus had already risen (Matthew 28:1-6; Mark 16:2-6; Luke 24:2-3; John 20:1). He did not rise on Sunday morning, but near sunset the day before.

    @cfmike11 It is important to know that Christ was in the tomb for three days and three nights as that is the sign that He was the Messiah. If He wasn't in the tomb for three days and three nights, He isn't the Messiah (Matthew 12:38-40). The Passover and the first day of unleavened bread are two different events, first comes Passover, then the days of unleavened bread. Preparation day refers to the day before any Sabbath, including the "High Sabbaths" or Holy Days. If you combine all of these facts (as the article above does) you can clearly see that Christ fulfilled the sign of the Messiah and there is no contradictions.

    I myself have often wondered was Jesus put to death on a Wed or Fri...there are many claiming to have the answer to the Sign of Johna > 3 days and 3 nights in the heart of the earth.....however heart of the Earth does not necessarily mean the tomb or grave....If Jesus said he would be in the grave or tomb for 3 days and 3 nights that would be conclusive evidence.....However Mark Chapter 24 reads this...

    12 On the first day of Unleavened Bread, when [a]the Passover lamb was being sacrificed, His disciples *said to Him, “Where do You want us to go and prepare for You to eat the Passover?” 13 And He *sent two of His disciples and *said to them, “Go into the city, and a man will meet you carrying a pitcher of water; follow him; 14 and wherever he enters, say to the owner of the house, ‘The Teacher says, “Where is My guest room in which I may eat the Passover with My disciples?”’ 15 And he himself will show you a large upper room furnished and ready; prepare for us there.” 16 The disciples went out and came to the city, and found it just as He had told them; and they prepared the Passover.

    How can Jesus be dead on the 1st day of Unleaved bread when the desciples clearly ask him where do you want us to go and prepare for you to eat the passover ?

    Also it is a known Fact that the Preparation Day always meant the Friday before the Sabbath....

    I have done alot of research on this one subject...and have come to one conclusion >....Is it really important that we know what day he was put to death and rose ?.....The main issue is not this but > We know he laid his life down for us (his sheep)....and he will come back again as he promised at the 7th Trumpet of Revelation...and that is the day alot of us are looking forward to........

    The way the chronology is laid out is so factually and easy to understand. Makes the subject easy to explain to those who might question it, and focus them on proving the issue.
