March 14, 2013 - In Memory of Dennis Luker, United Church of God President
Dennis Luker, 71, president of the United Church of God, an International Association , has served in the ministry of Jesus Christ for nearly 50 years. A long-time administrator and church pastor, Mr. Luker was named president of the Church in June 2010 by the Church’s Council of Elders. Mr. Luker himself served on the Council of Elders for five years in the 1990s.
Mr. Luker has served in senior administrative positions in both the United States and abroad, including previously serving as the Regional Director for Church of God activities in Australia and Southeast Asia.
The author of numerous articles for Church publications, Mr. Luker has pastored congregations and served in ministerial supervisory positions throughout the United States and elsewhere. His last congregational assignment prior to being named president of the Church was in Seattle, Washington, where he also served as a regional pastor for the northwest United States.
Mr. Luker has been happily married for more than 48 years to his wife LeeAnn, whom he counts as an important part of his ministry. He and his wife have two children, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A graduate with both a Bachelor of Arts and a Master’s degree in theology from Ambassador College in Pasadena, California, Mr. Luker and his wife presently reside in Cincinnati, Ohio. Mr. Luker also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Delaware.
