Unleavened Bread

April 23-29, 2024

"Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, nor with the leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth" (1 Corinthians 5:8).

These seven days of self-examination during the Feast of Unleavened Bread prove invaluable in helping us to devote our lives to God and Jesus Christ. They also also picture our eventual triumph over sin, made possible through the sacrifice and aid of Jesus Christ.

The Old Testament describes many ceremonies that sound quite odd to us. Yet everything God does is for a purpose. The purpose of one ceremony, the wave-sheaf offering, was to teach us about one aspect of Jesus Christ's role in mankind's salvation.

My mother, Dorothy Williams, kept her first Feast in 1949. This means that I've kept 52 Unleavened Bread seasons (and I'm only 39 and holding!). Each one has special meaning to me, and more so since I have been able to share it with my family. Each Unleavened Bread, we anticipate the recipes exclusive to this special time.
