Council of Elders Convenes for February Quarterly Meeting

The Council of Elders met at the home office in Milford, Ohio, for its quarterly February meeting Feb. 23-26. Among the items up for discussion were the budget for the upcoming fiscal year, planning for the General Conference of Elders meeting, review of the by-laws of the Church, discussion of the Ambassador Bible College curriculum review and surveys, and more.

Some highlighted quotes from the Council reports are below. Read the full reports and watch videos of select meetings at http://coe.ucg.org.

Logo design: Planning and discussion took place about the new logo for Beyond Todayand the United Church of God that is being worked on. There have been meetings with area companies to choose a design firm to assist us with this.

One key operating statistic of note was that donors and coworkers increased significantly during December and January, mainly as a result of the December Good Newssubscriber letter. Total coworkers and donors are now at an all-time high for the Church.

In other matters pertaining to the financial area, treasurer Rick Shabi reported that the sale of the Denton, Texas, property closed as scheduled on Feb. 10, 2015. Proceeds from the sale have been deposited into an interest-bearing account.

Expectation is for the new Beyond Today“TV/Internet/magazine logo to be ready for final Council approval sometime in May. Based on this, the launch of the magazine under the new name is planned for the September-October, 2015, issue.”

Julie Brown went through a detailed review with the Council of the results from the surveys that were sent out to ABC alumni, students, faculty and pastors. This presentation was video recorded and is on the Council website (http://coe.ucg.org) for more detail. She discussed the results and answered questions from the Council.
