On Saturday evening, Dec. 3, more than 40 people in the Little Rock, Arkansas, United Church of God participated in a “cake walk” auction. The purpose was to raise funds for UCG’s Good Works program. We raised $1,500 and had a very good time doing so.

Besides the usual carte du jour of various cakes, pies, cookies and candy, items auctioned included hand-knitted scarves, clothing, dishes, leather purses and music CDs. Our skilled auctioneer Bill Farnsworth kept the bidding interesting and fun.

After services we enjoyed sloppy joes, hot dogs and the trimmings with various soft drinks. During the auction, our teens contributed to the enjoyment by serving free popcorn and drinks. Later, some shared their purchased confections with others. It was a great night for fellowship and fun—and for supporting the Good Works program.
