Coleman, Texas, Congregation Celebrates 100th Birthday of Local Member
Otha Peeples with his wife Mary Lee and their two children, Howard Peeples and Carol Warlick.

Nov. 18, 2011, was a special day for one of the Coleman, Texas, Church members. It was the day that the small City of Goldthwaite, Texas, held a 100th birthday celebration for Mr. Otha Peeples.

Mr. and Mrs. Peeples have lived in the Goldthwaite area for many years and are known by a great majority of the “old timers” of the community. Although his birthday was not until the next day, the 19th, the celebration went off without a hitch.

Several Church brethren, as well as many local citizens, dropped by to wish Otha many happy returns. The pastor of the Coleman congregation read a letter of congratulations written by Dennis Luker, president of United Church of God, to Otha congratulating him not only on his 100th birthday, but also thanking him for his long and faithful service in the work of God.

Both Otha and his wife Mary Lee have been members of the Church of God for 34/35 years and have attended the Coleman Church congregation since its establishment. Otha and Mary Lee also passed another milestone, their 72nd wedding anniversary, on Oct. 22 of this year.

They were also blessed to have both of their children at the celebration. Their son Howard Peeples of Mena, Arkansas, was able to be with them as well as their daughter Carol Warlick of Goldthwaite.
