Ingredients

  pastry for 10 in. 2-crust pie
1Cupsugar
1⁄3Cupflour
1Teaspoonnutmeg
1Teaspooncinnamon
  dash salt
8Cupthinly sliced Figi apples

Instructions

Heat oven to 425 degrees. Prepare pastry. Stir together sugar, flour, nutmeg, cinnamon, and salt. Mix with apples. Turn into pastry-lined pie pan. Cover with top crust that has slits cut in it. Seal and flute crust. Cover edge with 2- to 3-inch strip of aluminum foil to prevent excessive browning. Remove foil last 15 minutes of baking. Bake 40-50 minutes or until crust is brown and juice begins to bubble through slits in crust. 

Notes

To make long Feast trips more enjoyable for the children, we buy special kids tapes and CD's just for the trip. We also buy a couple of new classical music CD's for mom and dad to enjoy on the trip.
