Bobotie is a traditional dish from South Africa. A beef casserole type dish made with ground beef and curry

| 1 | Teaspoon | garlic (fresh, minced) |
| 1 | Teaspoon | salt |
| 2 | Teaspoon | curry powder |
| 1 | Teaspoon | turmeric |
| 1 1⁄10 | Pound | ground beef |
| 2 | eggs | |
| 2 | Tablespoon | hot water |
| 4 | Teaspoon | lemon juice |
| 2 | Tablespoon | sugar |
| 1 | egg (slightly beaten) | |
| 2⁄3 | Cup | milk |
Soak bread in water for 10 minutes, then squeeze dry. Heat oil in large fry pan and braise onion until golden. Add cloves, garlic, salt, curry powder, and turmeric and simmer for 5 minutes. Add to ground beef with eggs, hot water, lemon juice, sugar and bread. Mix well. Spoon mixture into a well-greased ovenproof dish and bake at 320° for 40 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from oven. Beat egg and milk well and pour over Bobotie and bake for another 5-10 minutes at 350°. Serve with yellow rice or boiled vegetables.
