| Prep time | 45 minutes |
| 1 | Cup | flour |
| 1⁄2 | Cup | brown sugar |
| 1⁄2 | Cup | butter |
| 1⁄4 | Teaspoon | salt |
| 1⁄4 | Teaspoon | baking soda |
| 3⁄4 | Cup | oatmeal |
| 1 | Package | Kraft caramels |
| 3 | Tablespoon | cream (or milk) |
| 1 | Cup | chocolate chips |
| 1⁄2 | Cup | nuts (chopped) |
Combine flour, brown sugar, butter, salt, baking soda, and oatmeal. Mix well. Save 1 cup for topping. Line the rest in an ungreased 9 x 13 pan. Bake at 350º for 10 minutes. Melt the caramels with cream or milk over low heat. Pour over bottom crust. Sprinkle on chocolate chips and chopped nuts. Put rest of crumb mixture over the top and bake for 15 minutes.
Avoid spreading caramel mixture too close to the edge of the pan or it will stick to the sides and make it difficult to get out of the pan.
