Ingredients

1Cupflour
1⁄4Teaspoongarlic powder
1⁄8Teaspoonsalt
1⁄8Teaspoonred pepper
1Cupcheddar (grated)
1⁄4Cupbutter
3Tablespoonwater (cold; up to 5 Tbls.)
1 egg (beaten)
2Tablespoonsesame seeds (toasted)

Instructions

Combine flour, garlic powder, salt and red pepper. Cut in cheese and margarine until the size of small peas. Sprinkle with 1 tablespoon water; gently toss with fork. Push to side of bowl. Repeat until all of flour mixture is moistened. Shape dough into ball.

Flatten dough on lightly floured surface. Roll out dough from center to edges, forming a 10-inch square. Brush with egg. Sprinkle with sesame seeds. Cut dough into 5 x 1/2-inch strips. Twist each strip. Bake on lightly greased baking sheets at 400 degrees for 10–12 minutes or until golden brown. Makes 40.
