A simple cake is topped with lots of tart cherries for an easy summertime treat that's great served warm with vanilla ice cream.

| 1⁄4 | Cup | butter |
| 1 | Cup | flour |
| 1 | Pinch | salt |
| 2 | Teaspoon | baking powder |
| 1⁄2 | Cup | milk |
| 1 | Can | sour, pitted cherries |
| 3⁄4 | Cup | sugar |
Mix ½ cup sugar, butter, flour, salt, baking powder, and milk together. Spread in 8- or 9-inch pan. Pour cherries over top, then ¾ cup sugar. Bake in 350° oven until brown. Cake rises to top.
