| 2 | onions (thinly sliced) | |
| 1 | Clove | garlic (finely chopped) |
| 1⁄4 | Cup | butter |
| 6 | Cup | water |
| 8 | Teaspoon | beef boullion (or 8 boullion cubes) |

| sliced cheese |
In large saucepan, cook onion and garlic in butter until soft, stirring often. Add water and boullion and bring it to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer 30 minutes. Serve in ovenproof soup bowls. Top each serving with a slice of French berad and a slice of cheese. Broil until cheese melts. Serve immediately.
Recipe Note: No ovenproof bowl? Then toast the bread and microwave to melt the cheese.
