Mix a small amount of milk with flour or cornstarch to make a smooth paste, then add remaining milk. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until mixture thickens. Add honey, vanilla, and cinnamon. Blend thoroughly. Add dates, walnut, and salt. Chill before serving.
