Description

Also known as Paratha, this delicious fried flat bread is for when you want to spoil yourself! Crispy and flaky, they go well with most Indian dishes be it a gravied curry or a dry stir-fry.

Ingredients

3 1⁄2Cupflour (sifted)
3 1⁄2Tablespoonsugar
1Cupbuttermilk
1Teaspoonsalt
 Cupbutter (melted)

Instructions

 

  • Combine all dry ingredients, sift together.
  • Add melted butter and buttermilk
  • Kneed and form a ball
  • Wrap the ball in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 1 hour
  • Heat 3 to 4 inches of oil in a deep fryer or  small pan
  • Working in portions, roll dough on floured surface, to 1/4 inch thickness
  • Cut into shapes; strips, circles, triangles etc.
  • Drop into hot oil. Cook until they float
  • Lift out and drain on paper towels

Best served hot.
