Ingredients

1Cupalmonds (slivered)
4 egg whites (room temperature)
1Cupconfectioner's sugar
1⁄2Cupalmonds (ground)
1⁄2Cupdates (or rasins)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350 F.
  • Spread slivered almonds on baking sheet and toast until lightly colored 3 -5 min.
  • Reduce oven temp to 300 F.
  • Beat egg whites with an electric mixer in a large bowl until foamy.
  • Gradually add sugar continuing to beat until whites are stiff and shiny, about 10 min.
  • Gently but through fold in thes toasted and ground almonds and the dates.
  • Drop the meringues by tablespoonfuls on an ungreased large baking sheet spacing 1” apart.
  • Bake until cookies are golden and dry, about 25 – 30 min.
  • Make about 3 dozen
