Snow

We all get dirt on our hearts and minds with the things we have done. Only through God's amazing work can we become as white as snow!

About Snow

In 2009, Dave Archer and I met as students at Ambassador Bible Center .  Before that, I was a videographer.  Dave was surfing in Australia.

Dave and I had the idea to produce short Christian films that would teach a lesson in five minutes or less.  We started producing them without knowing exactly what we would do with them.  We presented them to the United Church of God and now they are being featured in the UCG Short films section!

There are four parts to this series: Stones, Rest, Snow, and Leaves.  I hope you enjoy these films!

I have watched a few of these short Christian 5-minute films and am not moved to change - they seem rather weak in content. The constant camera movement, focusing in and out is very irritating. This may appeal to the young people, but not to a wider audience of all ages. This mode or method of preaching the gospel, as you call it, seems very Protestant in nature. Please consider a much stronger content and delivery with an older person who can speak with authority on the subject - one in whose eyes has seen the winds of change and moral decline in our society over the decades. Don't be afraid to stand up and be counted for God's truth.

Thank you.

Hello RuthEsther,

I wonder what you mean by "Protestant in nature".

These films are certainly aimed at the younger generation. If you would like to see some things that are more in-depth you should check out some of the other things we offer. Beyond Today gets into more depth, as well as our Sermons page . Like Paul in 1 Corinthians 9:19, we must be all things to all people, so we create a wide variety of messages to take people from milk to meat. Hope this helps. If you have any suggestions that will help us make our efforts better, use our ideas form at http://www.ucg.org/volunteer/

@Ruth-

Hello Ruth- I was the one who shot and edited this video. Im sorry you did not enjoy the film. My friend David "the presenter" and I shot this film a little over two years ago while we were attending Bible school together. These films were intended to educate the younger viewers while entertaining them at the same time. When I was younger it was extremely hard for me to pay attention during church. My personal goal with these films is to create a video that the "Jamie of old" would be interested in watching. You are right when you say they are lighter content. However they are designed to grab a viewers attention and give them a short thought for the day. If God is calling them, then they can look into what else the church has to offer like Beyond Today or even full length sermons.

I agree that the snap zoom is slightly distracting. If you watch some of our newer films such as "Sand" or "Drive" I have changed my style of film making to appeal to a larger audience with smooth flowing shots. No more snap zooms :)

Thanks for you comment and I will do my best to not be afraid and stand up and be counted for God's truth.

Jamie

Hello UCG Media Team,

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for the work that you are doing. I love the short films that you have put together. I daily watch the Beyond Today Video Blogs. I weekly listen to sermons that are posted on the UCG web site or that are posted on local congregation sites.

I am a mother or two little girls. I daily try to walk with God, and strive to stay close to Him, to "Seek First the Kingdom of God". I find so often during my days, that I need encouragement. Chasing after a toddle, and homeschooling a 6-year old, often leaves me needing an encouraging word. As a wife and mother, I constantly second guess myself.

Having the UCG site so easy to access, has been such a blessing in my life. I treasure being able to listen to sermons that I may have missed while looking after my daughter at church. I love having so many choices. To be honest, I don't often watch the Beyond Today program because I don't have the time to sit down and watch it from start to finish. But I love putting on BT Daily while I have a few extra minutes to myself. I look so forward to your short films, and what you will think of next.

What I am trying to say, and hoping will come across is, "Good Work!" Your efforts do not go unnoticed. Thank you for sharing your hearts and spiritual journeys with anyone who takes the time to look. I digest it all. Keep it coming.

God Bless You,

Joy Jones

Kids and young adults nowadays have a short attention spand and they want things quick. Like it was said in the scriptures that in the last days we would be going to and fro. Do we not find ourselves traveling faster and knowlegde increased? Of course we do. Impatience is the virtue of alot of the young today. So for them this video will appeal to them more. If they feel it's wasting their time and boring, they will find some other thing to watch. I have seen some of the most ridiculous videos on line and the young just eat it up. It makes them laugh, it's fast paced and entertaining to them Ruth. Like it was said before, if you want more structure go to the home page UCG.org and there you will find subjects more to your liking. Have a good Sabbath to Ruth and UCG staff.
Sincerly,
Ann

I have watched this video again. It's have to focus one's eyes quickly to change. It kind of looks like the video games for the Playstation and soforth. Lot's to focus on and I know that for some it gives them a headache. Maybe that is what's bothersome.
Otherwise the mesage was find and I grabbed on to every word.
Happy Sabbath.
Warmly,
Ann

I have found the films produced by the younger people to be very thought provoking and I enjoy them. Even though you may be trying to hit a younger audience, I think there are many of us that are a little on the older side of young :) that can find a lot of information by just watching.

For me, they can begin a meditation period that lasts off and on all day or for a few days. Sometimes the images can provide a level to the thought process that the written word does not always reach.

Thank you for taking the time to put these videos out into cyberspace for the young people of this world and even those of the church, that might benefit from the message. If it gets them thinking, that is one step closer to the truth of God.

Snow addresses the hard core Christian values of repentance and forgiveness. What could be a better example of this than Psalms 51 and David's deep desire to be under God's merciful hand. Thanks for the wonderful message and timeless lesson on how clean we are by God's endless mercy and forgiveness.

Excellent film with a message that you can think about everyday, several times a day.

Frankly, I have sat through many 70 minute sermons with absolutely no practical application, clear beginning, end or aim. We need a balanced approach to preach the gospel or we'll become a stagnant aging group. If you don't retool and have an eye to the future, then you will experience no growth, spiritually or as a business/church organization.

How fortunate are we to have young people that value their beliefs enough to take the initiative and time to get a "take pause and think" message out with a modern approach.

Please keep it up.

Dave and Jamie:

I am 47 years old and therefore no longer a "young person." However, I liked the video just the same. It is very thrilling to me to see young people from UCG stepping out publically to stand for God and His Truth. Your generation will one day be doing the heavy lifting of Preaching the Gospel and Preparing a People. This is a tough business and you will have critics all the way. I encourage you to hang in there, develop a tough skin yet a soft heart toward God. Thank you for your desire and effort to support UCG's efforts to preach the Gospel of the Kingdom of God.

Good message but it falls very short on the imagery it uses alongside with David's sin.

The dirty hands while working is the complete opposite of what your trying to get across. Here's a little story.

A well to do lawyer took his son out for a country drive in his Mercedez. Along the way they past garbage dump and saw two men collecting empty pop cans and throwing them into the back of their truck.

His son began to laugh when he saw them and told his father, "look at the garbage pickers!" His father replied, "No son, there is no shame in making a honest dollar."

Honestly in my view, I'd delete this video and start over. It's a big artistic error.

It always seems when I need an encouraging word UCG always has something. I recently out of a moment of weakness and hurt feelings said some things about some very great people in my life. What I said got back to them and now I must bear my shame and guilt. When I logged onto this website low and behold there was the film snow. What you guys do is great and it does reach people on so many levels. I found encouragement and was reminded that I do not have to bear my shame and guilt if I reach to god to help me. Thanks again for the video it seems you guys are always there with the message I need at any given time!!

I am approaching retirement age and I love these short films. I don't understand the criticisms and feel it is refreshing to have our young people so involved. Keep it up guys because I can't wait to see the next one. I have enjoyed them all and the nuggets of truth they have imparted. We don't always need a full course meal.
