ANNOUNCEMENTS

Births

Jan Pieter and Kristina (Harmon) Dri jfhout of The Hague, The Netherlands, would like to announce the birth of their beautiful baby girl, Ella Flor. Ella was born Nov. 8, 2006, weighing 7 pounds 5 ounces and measuring 20 inches. Grandparents Wijjert and Dineke Drijfhout also attend the congregation in The Netherlands. First-time grandparents Richard and Mary Harmon are members of the Eugene, Oregon, congregation. All are excited as Ella marks the beginning of the fifth generation in the God's Church.

Juan and Candace Morales are proud to announce the birth of their first child, Kirsten Anne, born on Sept. 29, 2006. Kirsten weighed 7 pounds 15 ounces and was 20¾ inches long. Proud grandparents Mark and Carolyn Gable welcome their first grandchild into the world. Megan and Jonathan Gable are excited to finally be an aunt and uncle. The whole family resides in Newnan, Georgia, and attends the surrounding congregations.

Troy and Cindy (Maskrid) Harris of the Wichita, Kansas, congregation would like to announce the birth of their second child, Ella Denise Harris, on Nov. 11, 2005. She weighed 6 pounds 13 ounces and was 18 inches long. The family is very thrilled to be adding to God's family and His way of life. Ella is the sixth grandchild for both sets of grandparents, Ray and Penny Harris from the Columbia, Missouri, congregation and John and Nita Maskrid from the Wichita congregation.

Engagements

Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Johnsey of the Birmingham, Alabama, congregation are happy to announce the engagement of their daughter, Rebecca, to Dan Carreiro, son of Mr. and Mrs. Tony Carreiro of the West Palm Beach, Florida, congregation.

The couple is planning a spring 2008 wedding after Rebecca's graduation with a degree in music education. The couple plans to reside in Port St. Lucie, Florida.

Guenevere Haney of Medford, Oregon, and Aaron Berg of Seattle, Washington, are pleased to announce their engagement on Nov. 23, 2006. Guenevere is the daughter of Don and Rachel Haney and granddaughter of Jim and Martha Morrison. Aaron is the son of Jerry and Sharon Berg and grandson of Mary Post. They have set a wedding date of April 29, 2007, in southern Oregon.

Mr. and Mrs. Matthew Zollner of Millstadt, Illinois, are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Carolynn Rose, to David Jonathan, son of Collyer and Linda Wells of Front Royal, Virginia. Carolynn and David are members of the Fairview Heights, Illinois, congregation. The couple became engaged on Nov. 3, 2006, at the Missouri Botanical Gardens. They are planning a March 11, 2007, wedding in St. Louis, Missouri.

Donn and Alice Mortier of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter Kimberly Lynn Mortier to Robert Wayne Canning, son of Robert and Nadara Canning of Laural, Montana. They both grew up in the Church and met at the Feast of Tabernacles in Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin, in 2004. They will be united in marriage April 21, 2007, in Ripon, Wisconsin. The couple plan to reside in Omaha, Nebraska.

Weddings

Michael and Nancy Fike of Zephyrhills, Florida, are very pleased to announce the marriage of their daughter Susan Renee to Joel Andrew Falardeau, son of Mike and Michelle Grovak of West Lafayette, Indiana, and son of Michael Falardeau of Danville, Illinois.

The July 2, 2006, wedding took place in the beautiful North Georgia Mountains. Performing the ceremony was the bride's grandfather, Jack Fike.

Standing beside Susan was her maid of honor, Amber Charles. Susan's bridesmaids were Melissa Hudson, Arielle Falardeau, Melanie Yates, Pamm Moses, Vanessa Escobar, Jennifer Fenner, Erin Brown and Jacqui Barba.

Standing beside Joel was his best man, his brother Nate Harper. Joel's groomsmen were his dad Michael Falardeau, David Fike, Wesley O'Neal, Dave Peabody, Mitch Arbor, Aaron Wagner and Adam Charles.

Joel is an engineer working for the consulting firm RS&H in Merritt Island, Florida. Susan is in her second year of law school. The happy couple live in Orlando, Florida, and attend the Orlando congregation.

Anniversaries

Jerry and Sharon Berg of the Seattle/Bellevue, Washington, congregation celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary Aug. 30, 2006.

The Bergs have three children: Janette (Berg) and Joe Sequino of Fremont, New Hampshire; Eirik and Stephanie (Kramer) Berg of Sammamish, Washington; and Aaron Berg and fiancée Guenevere Haney of Seattle/Medford (Oregon). Other family members are mother, Mary Post of Bothell, Washington; and brother, Joseph Rose of Kirkland, Washington.

Henry and Wanda Ward celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Feb. 2. On Feb. 3 the Cincinnati East, Ohio, congregations presented the couple with a cake and flowers to commemorate the event.

Henry came in contact with the truth when he heard Mr. Armstrong's radio broadcast. Later, while working in a factory in Cincinnati, a fellow employee who was a Church member gave him a Plain Truth magazine to read. Not long afterwards, in 1966, the Ward family started attending the Church in Cincinnati.

The couple have four children, seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Henry and Wanda serve as a deacon and deaconess in the Cincinnati East congregation.

Walter and Meta (Arnecke) Roeben celebrated their 60th anniversary with a surprise party Oct. 5, 2006, with family and friends given by their children, Justin and Sandra (Durham) Roeben and Darlette (Roeben) and Peter Mathisen.

Walter and Meta were married in York­town, Texas, and have resided in Port Lavaca, Texas , for more than 40 years. Both are retired from Alcoa.

They have four grandchildren: Eric Mathisen (Christian), Matthew Mathisen (Tracy), Rochelle (Roeben) Cade and Jason Derek Roeben.

They have five great-grandchildren: Elexis Mathisen, Rebecca Mathisen, Tyler Mathisen, Trever Mathisen and Rayleigh Cade.

Meta was baptized by Tommy Hammer (1964) and Walter by Dave Myers (1996). They attend the Victoria, Texas, congregation. They enjoy working in their yard and garden and being with their grandchildren.

Obituaries

Manford Warren, 83, of Wellington, Colorado, died Oct. 26, 2006, at the Rangely District Hospital in Rangely, Colorado, from a lengthy illness with Alzheimer's.

Manford and his wife, Grace, were moved to Dinosaur, Colorado, by their children in April 2006 to live with and be taken care of by their son, Bobby Warren, and daughter, Norma Snyder.

Manford was born June 3, 1923, in the mountains of Rosetta, Arkansas, to Wesley and Lula Warren. While growing up on the farm, Manford started working cutting logs at the age of 12. He married Grace Young of Dardenelle, Arkansas, Jan. 12, 1942. They moved to Colorado in 1952, where he worked in the timber industry. The family moved to Wellington, Colorado, in 1955 where he had his own mechanic business. He was a top-notch mechanic and welder. He even instructed the Japanese on how to weld aluminum.

Manford was preceded in death by his father and mother; one infant son, Charles L.; five brothers; four sisters; and one infant grandson.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years; two brothers; five sons, Bobby D. of Dinosaur, Kenneth E., Quinton D., Stanley A. and Jeffery D. of Fort Collins, Colorado; and one daughter, Norma L. Snyder of Dinosaur.

Manford and Grace were pillars in the Loveland, Colorado, congregation until their move to Dinosaur. A memorial service was conducted in Loveland at the church hall on Nov. 12, 2006, by Elmer Wilke, a UCG elder and close friend.

Donald Nordskog of the Fargo, North Dakota, congregation died Jan. 30, 2007, at age 71 at his home in Bejou, Minnesota. He had been in declining health since September 2006 after battling cancer and arterial blockage.

He was born in 1935 in rural Thompson, Iowa, as the oldest of Grant and Amanda Katherine (Heglend) Nordskog's seven children. He grew up in Thompson where he attended school. Donald served in both the U.S. Army and the U.S. Air Force. While in the military, he was stationed at the South Pole for several months working on “the wonder city under the ice.”

In addition to his military career, Donald worked in the welding profession and construction for many years. He retired in the Mahnomen, Minnesota, area.

He was popular with the children in the congregation as a grandfather figure who liked to pass out gum and other treats.

His memorial service was conducted by pastor Herb Teitgen on Feb. 5.

He is survived by three sons, Alan (Emily), David (Tracy) and Jeffery; two brothers, Marvin (Patricia) and Stanley (Barb); three sisters, Lavone Weaver, Carol (Dean) Stahl and Phyllis Sterry; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. His brother Marvin attends UCG in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
