Replacing Neo-Pagan Rituals

I have been reading The Good News magazine for many months now and have been quite influenced by it, as everything I read can and is supported by Scripture.

It is tough to get my family to go along with throwing out the old neo-pagan rituals otherwise known as Christmas, Easter and Valentine's Day without first replacing them with days established and accepted by God. I have searched your Web site to gather information on Hanukkah and Rosh Hashanah, but I have not found much on these topics.

What I have found leads me to believe that Rosh Hashanah is also known as the Feast of Trumpets. Do I understand that correctly? I would appreciate any direction to literature that can help me clear this up so I can establish these practices in my family.

"We Stand With You"

I want you to know that my wife and I have decided to begin tithing to United Church of God and since…we don't know of any local churches in our area, we are sending it to you in Cincinnati, Ohio.

We thank you for the great Web site you have and all the wonderful literature and links therein, and we want you to know we are sharing it with others. We are overjoyed to know you stand in the gap as you do, and we stand with you.

We will always pray that God blesses the work of your hands.

Wants to Be Baptized

My husband and I came across your Web site, and our lives have never been the same. We spent a year looking for a church that would feed the flock, and we were unsuccessful; so we stopped going to church because we didn't feel like we were being fed the whole truth. Most churches we went to, the preachers were motivational speakers. They would take one verse and build a whole sermon around that one verse.

But because we read our Bibles, we knew that we were being fed partial truth. Something was still missing in our lives, and then I came across your Web site. I can't thank you enough for the truth and understanding that you've given us.

We live in the Dallas, Texas, area and would like to know if you know of anyone who can baptize me and my husband. God bless your ministry.

International Reader Prays for America

Thanks so much for all the magazines your organization has sent me over the years. I just want to say that I find them very enlightening. May the Lord Almighty use them to draw men unto Himself.

My heart bleeds for America, a nation founded on biblical principles but now ironically turning its back on her Maker. Even now I pray for America. May the Lord remove the veil blinding the people from beholding God and His work in their midst. America, may you perceive the God of your fathers again and walk in His way, for there your strength and enduring prosperity lies. Indeed in Him is your security and hope.
