Power of Prayer

I'm 67 years old, and one year ago I had a heart attack, went to emergency and was quickly admitted to the hospital with heart failure, four clogged arteries to the heart, leaky valves in my heart and my heart functioning at 10 percent. Doctors said nothing could be done, to go home and they would make me as comfortable as possible.

My pastor, Richard Thompson, anointed me twice and brethren and family prayed for me.

Then a surgeon came into my room and said, "I'll do the operation, but it doesn't look good. You could have a heart attack or a stroke and die." However, he said he and his assistants believed in prayer, and if I didn't mind, he would like to pray. He asked God to guide them and gave God the credit and acknowledged that they were the human instruments used.

One year later my doctor has said, "Everything is perfect. You have the vitals of a teenager." I'm off more and more medication. I thank our Heavenly Father God who intervened. I thank Him and praise Him daily.

Religious Studies Director Loves Bible Study Course

I have been reading your Bible Study Course and some of your other literature, but, a while ago, when I moved, somehow the BSC did not get my forwarding address.

Most of all I wish to thank you all with all my heart for your dedicatedness and boldness in proclaiming the "Good News" through the world with great success.

Recently I got down some end-time prophecy booklets, and I should say that they are really amazing. I learned a lot of future events from those magazines.

The one thing that really excites me is that all your magazines and books are directly from the Word of God, since today we live in a world where there are many books on end times, which are written based on what man thinks about what God would do before the return of our Lord Jesus Christ. Looking for a United Congregation

I am a Good News subscriber and have truly been blessed by receiving your magazine. I was wondering if you could help me find a United Church of God in my home town or local area?

I haven't been successful finding a church that supports my personal convictions and beliefs.

God laid it on my heart over 10 years ago not to participate in Halloween, and I stopped. My family and friends thought I was in a cult for that decision. I do celebrate Easter from the perspective of the burial and resurrection of Jesus and Christmas for the birth of Jesus. I am totally against the Easter Bunny, and I believe Christmas celebrates everything but the birth of Christ. After receiving your magazine, I have been praying that God would show me which holidays to observe.

If you can help me find a church in my area that teaches the Bible and observes Holy Days, I would be grateful.

"Pleasantly Surprised by the Biblical Accuracy"

I just recently started receiving The Good News magazine, and I was pleasantly surprised by the biblical accuracy of the articles. I am currently not attending church because I have been unable to find a church anywhere that sticks to the Word of God alone and not to their own false teachings.

I've wanted to be baptized for a very long time, but have been unable to find a place where I could honestly feel good about being baptized there. Baptism is a sacred event that I would like performed for me in a house of worship that I feel God would approve of. I pray that I have finally found a place of worship where I can feel at "home." I'm still in the process of trying to find a congregation in my area. I pray that more people will have the opportunity to read truthful and accurate literature promoting God's Word such as this magazine.

Biblical Holy Days

I was saved by the Lord in 2004 when I was 60 years old, and I diligently try to walk the path of Jesus. I have already changed from Sunday to the correct Saturday Sabbath, took off my earrings and my crucifix around my neck. I also just know that I want to keep God's Holy Days to set me free.

Luckily I came across your article and saved it on my computer. Please, I want to know the correct dates to commemorate the Holy Feast Days. I really want to live according to our Father's will.

Hot Off the Presses

Note: Recently we reprinted our Holidays or Holy Days booklet, and a new customer service representative was handling the job while our normal person was on vacation. Right after the booklet was printed, Scott Ashley, managing editor of booklets, received this note from her:

Holidays or Holy Days shipped last night, and I believe is to be delivered today or Monday. I looked it over after binding and can't wait to finish reading it. Became Wild Wanting More

I absolutely want to first and foremost thank you for producing these magazines. I was just surfing the Web looking for articles to digest, when I came across this lovely piece, The Good News.

When I first read the November-December 2006 edition, I became as wild as a dog wanting to engulf more of this teaching. I just love reading and meditating on the issues of the Middle Eastern crisis, nations acquiring nukes and the articles for teens.

"Remaining Faithful When the Heat Is On"

"You Are That Message of Hope"

I wish there was more that I could say, but "thanks" pretty much sums up my feelings, desire, longing, appreciation and joy. Thanks for the good news, thanks for the spiritual encouragement and thanks for embodiment of God's Spirit in your work.

Sometimes when in the wilderness, it is easy to forget the blessing and the miracles of God's powerful hand, which sustains our presence and our joy. It is so easy to keep one's head down and go through the motions of making ends meet, that one forgets. That is when God sends a message of hope, to reinforce His plan to remind us we are not alone and that He is working His miracles every day.

You are that message of hope. Sustain that.

Muslim Desperately Waiting for Jesus

I received and read the first one (March-April 2007) from cover to cover, with interest, and found it extremely informative. Please may I have a free copy of The Book of Revelation Unveiled? Vertical Thought
