One promise in particular concerns wisdom. In James 1:5, we are given this promise: "If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him." Do we ask God to honor this promise in our own lives? God cannot lie; if He makes a promise, He will keep it. We are admonished to ask for wisdom when making big decisions in our lives. We go to God, and we ask Him to lead and direct us, to help us make the proper decisions. But do we make a habit of asking God for wisdom on a daily basis? We need wisdom every day of our lives, not only during difficult times. God's wisdom is free to each of us. As we study God's Word and learn how He wants us to live, it is God who gives us the understanding to put it into practice. Wisdom can't be compared with the knowledge of this world, the degrees from the best universities or the minds of today's geniuses. It is from God only, and it is offered freely to you and all who seek it. Proverbs 16:16 says, "How much better to get wisdom than gold! And to get understanding is to be chosen rather than silver." Balancing work and family can be difficult. When you consider how valuable wisdom is, it should become a priority to ask for it each and every day. Parents learn the value of teaching their children to pray for wisdom. They want to help them understand how vital it can be to daily life. Attending school can bring challenges, and facing those challenges requires wisdom. Teach them of God's promise and seek wisdom together when needed. Many people dream of being rich and want more. The world is fixated on bigger and better things in life. Wisdom offers a greater wealth than any riches this world could offer, and it is ours, if only we ask. UN
