A mugwump is a curious animal. It has the ability to walk a fence so that its mug is on one side and its wump on the other. Mugwump is a term from the 1884 U. S. presidential campaign for members of one political party who switched sides.
In our desire for tolerance are Christians becoming moral mugwumps?
Claim you believe that marriage is only between a man and a woman and you can be accused of prejudice or hate speech. You don't want to seem intolerant. So you hide behind the politically correct, "Jesus said not to judge."
What did Jesus teach about marriage? In the Gospel of Matthew Jesus says, "…at the beginning [God] made them male and female, and…for this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife and the two shall become one flesh…What God has joined together, let not man separate" (Matthew 19:4-6 [4] And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female,
[5] And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh?
[6] Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.

Jesus clearly taught that marriage is a divine institution between a man and a woman.
He didn't hide from telling the truth even when it was out of step with society. If you want to be one of his followers, then you must also be willing to know and stand for the principles he taught. Jesus wants committed disciples, not moral mugwumps.
