Jesus told a parable about a rich farmer. The farmer decided to retire to a life of ease where he could "eat, drink, and be merry."'
"God said to him, 'Fool! This night your soul will be required of you; then whose will those things be which you have provided?" Jesus said, "So is he who lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God."
How can you be rich toward God? Is Jesus telling us to just give more money to God and you'll never have hard times. No, Jesus' is teaching that everything you have is a gift from God, including your own life.
The important question is, "How important is God in your life?"
What is the most important thing you can give the owner of the universe? It is your time. Start a prayer journal, spend some time everyday thanking God for His blessings, and seek His guidance in your life.
In being rich towards God, your will receive the greatest blessing of life—a relationship with your Creator.
