Tolerance is a word we hear constantly. It’s applied to anti-bullying in schools, equal rights and anti-discrimination. The Southern Poverty Law Center’s project Teaching Tolerance provides teachers with ideas and materials for teaching these principles in their classrooms. Not only do such projects exist for grade school, but there are also countless organizations, groups and companies that support various aspects of the tolerance movement.
It was comfortable and yet strange sitting at the country club we rented. I was surrounded by a bunch of loud and laughing almost 30-year-olds who looked really familiar. On the table were red and black centerpieces, and in the corner was an old group picture of a bunch of crazy 18-year-olds holding signs that had their name on it. The room was full of professionals such as computer programmers, estimators, nurses, 911 operators, army platoon leaders, bank tellers, advertisers. Some were mothers and fathers. All of them were still crazy.
Reunions are wild…but fun.
God’s people sin and make mistakes. Disappointment may follow strongly when we see someone we love and hold in high esteem fail. We may even be merciless to ourselves when we fall short. But how does God see those He has called and chosen when they sin and make mistakes?
