“It is good for nothing," cries the buyer; but when he has gone his way, then he boasts” (Proverbs 20:14, NKJV). Another version says, “The customer always complains that the price is too high, but then he goes off and brags about the bargain he got” (GNB).

This is an economic principle based on supply and demand. People today still try to buy low by convincing the seller the price is too high, while selling high by persuading the buyer it’s a good deal.

Many of the proverbs in the book of Proverbs comment on human nature, helping us to better navigate life and not be caught unawares. Practical wisdom, such as economic principles like this one help us to be careful as we plan our future and manage our finances.
