We think—or try to think—all the time. We mull, muse and wonder trying to put a few logical thoughts on a topic or some dilemma together. We try to sort things—especially confusing things—out. We try to make sense of the world.

But how does God the Father or Jesus Christ think? What is the highest, purest and most pristine logic and thought process?

Notice God’s own commentary on His thought process as He inspired Isaiah (Isaiah 55:8-9) to record:

" 'For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,' says the Lord. 'For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts.' "

God thinks on an infinitely higher level—and higher speed—than we do. Warp speed, compared to us.

But God’s thinking is not just higher speed than ours, it’s at a higher—in fact, the highest—spiritual level too. Until we’re resurrected to spirit existence when Christ returns, we can’t possibly approach God’s speed of thinking. However, we can strive for the Father’s and Christ’s goodness of thought.

How to think like God thinks:

1 – Where do we go for insight and answers about our lives and the future of the world—or for that matter, the future of the universe? Read the entirety of Isaiah 55 with particular attention to verse 11.

2 – What is the standard by which all actions—your own or others—should be measured and therefore thought about? Psalm 119 and note the stanza called after the Hebrew letter pronounced “Mem” (Psalm 119:97-104).

3 – What is the absolute, overriding principle for all of our thinking, and the basis for how God thinks? Christ answered the question of a Pharisee (who as a group assumed they all thought like God did) about what is that “great commandment” or overriding principle in Matthew 22:34-40.

Vertical thinking is a vital part of God’s way of life. Think about God this Sabbath, and strive to think like God thinks. The Vertical Thought staff wish you a blessed and thoughtful Sabbath!
