Beautiful Osoyoos Lake provides a family Feast setting in British Columbia for about 225 attendees. Nestled in southern Okanagan Valley it is renowned for its warm clear water, surrounding mountains, vineyards, fruit orchards, sandy beaches and variety of outdoor activities. Osoyoos Lake spans the Canadian-U.S. border south of Penticton and north of Spokane.
The autumn harvest of apples, pears, plums and grapes abound here at Feast-time. Touring, visiting wineries, hiking, golfing, boating and shopping are popular activities here. A variety of trails offer walking, biking, and hiking through panoramic views along Osoyoos Lake and up to Chopaka Lookout and Mount Cobau. Families will enjoy Desert Centre, a research facility hosting one of the largest concentrations of endangered plants and animals. Children's theme park, “Rattlesnake Canyon” has go karts, bumper boats, thrill rides, and a 35-foot climbing wall. The indoor Osoyoos Desert Model Railroad runs 45 miniature trains on 2 kilometers of miniature track through dioramas featuring 18,000 hand-painted figurines of little people and animals.
The Feast venue will be the upscale Watermark Beach Resort, located right on the lake in the town of Osoyoos. The facility and meeting space is handicap accessible. All 147 resort rooms are suites of various sizes, each with a full kitchen (large refrigerator, range, microwave, electric kettle, dishwasher, dishes, cookware, utensils), living room with dining table, bedroom(s) with pillowtop mattresses, a washer and dryer, cable televisions, free high-speed WiFi, iron with ironing board, hair dryer, bathrobes, and is pet-friendly (max. 2 pets). Resort amenities include two onsite restaurants, secure underground parking, elevators/lifts, heated outdoor swimming pool with waterslide, 2 spa tubs, barbecue grills, full waterfront, walking paths, beach volleyball, a full-service spa, fitness centre, and steam room.
The Feast occurs early this year during the peak summer tourist season. To moderate costs for Feast attendees, the Watermark is providing reduced room rates for UCG attendees, has dropped fees for room sharing, has free parking, full kitchens and has a supermarket next door. If Feast attendees occupy at least 20 rooms, the Feast meeting space will be complimentary. (Additional hotels and RV sites in Osoyoos can be researched online.)
HOTEL RESERVATIONS and FEAST REGISTRATION may commence as announced in Feast Updates, the United News, and in the 2018 Festival Planner. Please follow those guidelines for making your 2018 Feast plans. The meeting room occupancy is limited, so Feast registration for this site is limited to 225 persons. UCG members and critical serving staff will be given priority registration, when needed.
From the Watermark beachfront resort, one can easily step into Osoyoos town centre. Food is conveniently obtained at neighboring markets, eateries and shops - all within easy walking distance. Restaurants in Osoyoos include Canadian, American, Chinese, Japanese, Asian, French, Italian, Mexican, plus winery restaurants, resorts restaurants, pizza shops, pubs, and fast-food.
Church socials will be held onsite and will include a Family Dinner & Dance, a catered Senior’s Luncheon, and separate Meet & Greets for singles, young adults, and teens. Group volleyball, bocce ball, cricket, and disc golf equipment are complimentary from the front desk for beachside use. Watermark also offers rentable kayaks, SUPs, and boat slippage. Sail boats, ski boats, jet skis, pontoon boats, and boat charters are available through nearby vendors.
