This time of the year can be exciting as kids go back to school. But there is a school we should all avoid!

Transcript

[Steve Myers] It's school time again, the school bus went by our house the other day, and all the little ones were getting on the bus with their backpacks, excited for another day of learning. School can be so wonderful as we're growing and becoming more educated. It could be a lot of fun. But there is a school that we all want to avoid, and that's the school of hard knocks. Think about that in a spiritual sense for a moment. We don't want to have to go through the difficulties and the struggles and the challenges that could be avoided. And so God reminds us about that in Proverbs 15. In Proverbs 15:10, He reminds us, when we get away from God, when we're not following Him closely, we're gonna go to school, and it is that school of hard knocks. And so He reminds us, harsh discipline is for him who forsake the way. And he who hates correction will die.

You see, we have to love God's way. We have to love being educated in His way and staying close. We wanna be sure we attend every class, in a sense, in God's classroom, in His school. We don't wanna stray off. When we stray off, there's going to be consequences, and the natural consequences of not attending God's way is gonna lead to trouble. It's going to bring us to the wrong school, to that school of hard knocks. So maybe next time you see a school bus go by, think about staying close to God, being in his classroom every single day, so that we can avoid that school of hard knocks.

That's BT Daily. We'll see you next time.
