[Steve Myers] You can count on it. The children of Israel were coming into the Promised Land. God had made them all kinds of promises about the land, about what they would face, the challenges that would be involved in the whole situation, and yet He promised them over and over and over again that He would never leave them, He'd never forsake them, that He would follow through in all those things He said that He would do. Well, we get to the end of the book of Joshua, and we find an interesting comment that Joshua himself makes. it's over in chapter 21 and in verse 45. Joshua reminds the people just before his death – he says, "Not a word failed of any good thing which the Lord had spoken to the house of Israel. All came to pass" (Joshua 21:45). That is a phenomenal statement. Phenomenal statement! That God didn't fail in any way to follow through.

You know, is that a faith builder for us? I think it should be, because God's promised us much the same type of things that He promised to ancient Israel, except, in a way, taking it to the next level. Taking it to a spiritual level. Taking physical promises to eternal, spiritual promises. And you know, we can say exactly the same thing. God is not going to fail on one single word of the things He's promised.

Now with that in mind, it also pushes us then to think, well, what is my reaction to that? What should I do because of those promises? And just a couple of passages later in Joshua, I think we're given insight into what our reaction should be to this faithful God that we have. Down in chapter 22 and in verse 5, here we see very clearly what our reaction needs to be. Because God is faithful, what do you think that means for us? Well, we need to be faithful, too. We need to be faithful to Him. So it says, "But take careful heed to do the commandment and the law which Moses the servant of the Lord commanded you, to love the Lord your God, to walk in all His ways, and to keep His commandments." And then he says something interesting, "Hold fast to Him, serve Him with all your heart and with all your soul" (Joshua 22:5). And so you see, loving God and honoring Him has been there right from the very beginning. And so we know we can count on God.

Can God count on us? Let's do everything we can to show our faithfulness to God, because He is always faithful.

That's BT Daily. We'll see you next time.
