[Steve Myers] The events this week I think cause us to step back and say, "What is going on?" There's so many challenges around us, so many difficult situations, and then you add on top of the world problems that are happening we add our own personal problems. Sometimes it can be just depressing to notice all of the difficulties that we face in life.

Well, Philippians chapter 3 says something to us when we face all of the difficulties and challenges, not only in our country, the world, but our personal problems as well. And in Philippians 3:12 it says this, "Not that I've already attained or I'm already perfected." In other words, we've still got to ways to go. We're not to God's Kingdom yet. But Paul says, "I press on that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me."

I think that's an important aspect when it comes to facing life's challenges is that we've got to press on. We've got to push ourselves like Paul said in other places that he beat at his body, he beat himself so that he would continue to strive for the ultimate goal, that of the Kingdom of God.

And so we see here that we're not doing this alone. We don't face this by ourselves. He says, "I lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me." And that literally means to grab onto. So it paints an image for me that Christ is grabbing us by the hand and He's leading us. And our part? Don't ever let go. Grab onto Jesus Christ and never let go. And by doing that we can press on, and by accomplishing that we will succeed.

That's BT Daily. We'll see you next time.
