If you're discouraged, think about this verse in Zephaniah.

Transcript

[Steve Myers] Today's a pretty dreary day. May not be that way where you're at. But some days are kind of like that. You get started and it's kind of raining, it's dreary, it can be a real downer, you can start to feel down, down and discouraged, discouraged about even yourself, maybe even about your relationship with God. Now, if you felt that way, and you've been humble, and you've been repentant, we shouldn't feel that way. In fact, there's a passage that is such a great reminder of what God thinks of me. And it's in one of the minor prophets. In the book of Zephaniah 3:17 there's this interesting passage. I think that gives us insight into how God feels about us. Notice what he says, "The Lord your God is in your midst, the Mighty One will save. He will rejoice over you with gladness. He will quiet you with His love. He will rejoice over you with singing." You know, what does God think of you?

This passage is saying that God is on your side. God is with you. God wants the best for you. Some translations say, "As a mighty one, He's a warrior. He's a warrior for us on our side. He's the warrior that brings victory in our life." And of course, those are scary situations when you're in a battle, and of course, we are in a spiritual battle. And yet in that battle, it says, "God quiets us." In other words, we don't have to be fearful. We don't have to be anxious. That God is watching out for us. In fact, it says that He, "Delights over us. He quiets us and delights over us rejoices over us with singing." And what better way to calm a little one who's upset and fearful to sing and quiet. Imagine God does that for us.

Now this is one of those amazing passages I believe that is really a treasure when it reminds us of how much God really cares about us. How much He really, really likes us, in fact, He loves us. And so keep that in mind on those dreary times. Keep in mind God's perspective that God does care for us.

That's BT Daily. We'll see you next time.
