[Steve Myers] A lot of people are talking about the status quo lately – the way things are, the way they’ve always been. But you know, it’s not that way with God. God has a different perspective on things. In fact, Isaiah 43 gives us a little insight into God’s thinking. In verse 19 in Isaiah 43, here’s what He says: “Behold, I do a new thing.” He says, “Now it shall spring forth; shall you not know it?” (Isaiah 43:19)

You see, God’s looking forward to something new. He is sick and tired of this world. He’s sick and tired of this world’s politics, He’s sick and tired of this world’s leadership, He’s sick and tired of the way that people ignore Him and just do their own thing. And so He poses the question to us – God’s doing this thing, do you know it? Do you understand it? Do you know the plan of God? And do you understand that as God’s people, He tells us we need to forget those things that are behind, even when it comes to our problems and our trials and our shortcomings.

When He forgives us and we repent, He says, “Forget the things that are behind; I’m doing a new thing.” And so He says, “Reach ahead.” In fact, maybe we can look at that passage. It’s over in the book of Philippians. Philippians 3:13. It reminds us of that very thing. Philippians 3:13 – it tells us very clearly. Paul says, “I don’t count myself to apprehend it; but one thing I do, forgetting the things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead.”

You see, God’s looking for the things that are ahead. He’s looking forward to the return of Christ. He’s looking forward to the completion of His plan. He’s looking forward to that – we’ve got to do the same. We’ve got to forget the challenges that were behind us and overcome the sin that we face and look ahead. That’s what God’s all about. And we can get on board with God and do that new thing. So let’s do that very thing. Let’s forget what’s behind, and let’s strive for what’s ahead.

That’s BT Daily. We’ll see you next time.
