What should your attitude be when you have a task to complete? What are God's expectations?

Transcript

[Steve Myers] When you're given a job to do, you go to work, you have a task or a duty that you've got to fulfill. And it's not quite what is the best, do you often say, "Well, it's good enough." Well, is it good enough? Should it be good enough? That's the challenge that we're faced with especially as God's people. Should we be in that attitude that it's just okay, it's not that bad, or it's good enough. I heard a story the other day that kind of supported that idea. They said, "Always give 100% when you're at work." I thought that was a good thing, but then they started by saying, "Well, give 40% on Monday," and then it goes downhill for the rest of the week.

But should we only give 40% on Monday, and less, and less throughout the week? What is God's expectations for us as His people? He says something powerful in Ecclesiastes 9:10. He says, "It's not just about a duty, or a job, or responsibility," He says, "Whatever your hand finds to do." So now, we're talking about everything. "Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might for there's no work, or device, or knowledge, or wisdom in the grave where you're going. So give it your all," God says. Put in 100%, give it your best, do your very, very best. And in fact, God says in Psalm 128:2 that there's more that we can expect when we do our best. Verse 2 in Psalm 128 says, "When you eat of the labor of your hands you shall be happy and it will be well with you." The happy is really the word for blessings, you'll be blessed. So God has blessings in store when we just don't settle for, "Well it's okay, it's not that bad, or good enough." So the next time you're tempted to do that remember Ecclesiastes 9:10, "Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might."

That's BT Daily, we'll see you next time.
