Another key to understanding the Bible is to schedule study time.

Transcript

[Steve Myers] Another key to understand the Bible is to make sure that you plan a time to study the Word of God, and not just any old time. It seems to work best when you plan a regular time to sit down with God and His inspired word because it's so easy to let everyday concerns get in the way, there's something that always comes up, there's always something that seems to interfere when we don't plan a regular time. I mean, isn't it easy to get sidetracked and lose our focus? So, schedule it. If you want to understand the Bible, it is a key to set a standard time for you. What works best for you? That could be early in the morning. It could be later at night. What kind of individual are you? A night person? A morning person? Do what's best for you, but do it regularly. And when you schedule that regular time, that's something that you want to try to maintain, and do your best to be consistent. In other words, make it a habit. Make it a habit to read the Word of God and study it. Because what you'll find is that over time, you'll begin to look forward to it. You'll look forward to that time when you can sit down and really dig into the word of God.

There's a powerful passage in Ephesians 5:15 that speaks to that regular study time and the power of God's Word. It says this, "See that you walk circumspectly," that's carefully, hard word to say, but walk carefully, it says, "not as fools but wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil." Now, we look around and there are so many challenges facing us today. So, it says, "Redeem the time." Or in other words, walk carefully and make the most of every opportunity. Make the most of your time. Doesn't that fit in beautifully with this key, to set a regular time to study the Word of God? You'll certainly look forward to that daily experience of spending time with God. So. Make it your habit.

That's "BT Daily." See you next time.
